Partying all night every weekend with alcohol on the hand, is almost determined to do the opposite.

In itself, I have nothing against alcohol. It is only when it is being abused that it&#039;s just plain stupid.

yup, HGH is secreted in cycles. So you always get the HGH secretion, but if you lose a few hours of sleep, you might miss a whole cycle. You are right that it is secreted roughly an hour after falling asleep. But, nearly 50% of the secretion comes in the 3rd and 4th REM sleep stages. And with lack of sleep you might miss those stages and thus a whopping 50% of the HGH goodness.

Great article.  I had no idea that the HGH production happens simultaneously with REM sleep.  I had always heard that your GH levels spike 1-2 hours into sleep.  This sure qualifies why so many recommend a solid 8 hours of sleep for a good recovery.
